Kerbal Space Program: Lander Design

The lander needs to have the following attributes:

1. Lightweight as possible
2. Lowest center of mass as possible

In most of my lander designs, I use 4 main engines and 2 action groups.  Each action group will toggle 2 of the engines, but please make sure that the two engines that are toggled will still keep the center of thrust inline with the center of mass.

The purpose for the action groups is so that all lander engines can be turned off when the lander is attached to the interplanetary designed ship.  Also, when landing, only two of the engines can be used for decreased fuel consumption, with the extra two engines as compensation thrust should the lander be approaching too quickly.  Lastly, all 4 engines will be used for takeoff after the lander is ready to get back into orbit.  This increases initial acceleration, which in turn decreases overall fuel consumption.  Once the lander has achieved orbit, two engines can be used again for fuel efficiency purposes.
